Title: Freelance Associate Senior Designer

Responsibilities

Develop and strengthen the design language across collections, proposing 1–3 directional options per piece and identifying details or products that dilute collection cohesion.
Translate approved silhouettes and concepts into fully resolved, factory-ready garments, making decisions on trims, finishes, hardware, stitching, lining, labels, hems, and other details.
Lead sample reviews, clearly document corrections, and manage iteration cycles with sample rooms and factories through final aesthetic and finish approval.
Partner with Creative Direction, Technical Design, Materials, Production, Brand, and E-commerce teams to translate aesthetic decisions into technical documentation, costing, factory handoff, and product content.
Maintain documentation and rationale for detail decisions, track recurring silhouette and material patterns, and support cohesive product groupings season over season.

Requirements

4–7 years of design or design-development experience with a design-led contemporary or luxury apparel brand.
Strong aesthetic judgment, collection-level cohesion, and the ability to interpret and amplify an established design point of view.
Hands-on experience with sample rooms and factories, including sample reviews, detail-level corrections, fabric considerations, and production development.
Fluent knowledge of garment construction, trims, finishes, hardware, and detail vocabulary; able to present multiple directional options and respond constructively to creative feedback.
Highly organized, collaborative, and solutions-oriented; comfortable managing extended development cycles and available for part-time work in the NYC area, including onsite fittings and meetings when needed.
