Contract
Description
Maps Credit Union is seeking an experienced
Contract Marketing Production Designer to provide flexible creative and production support to our Marketing team for approximately 10-15 hours per week. This is a hands-on role for someone who can take a project from an established concept, campaign, or creative direction and efficiently turn it into polished, brand-consistent marketing materials across multiple channels. Design and creative production will be the primary focus of the role, with opportunities to assist with campaign execution, content development, social media, and other marketing projects as needs arise.
The ideal contractor is an experienced designer who works quickly without sacrificing quality, understands how marketing materials need to function beyond simply looking good, and is equally comfortable developing a new piece or refreshing existing creative for a new audience, message, offer, or objective.
- Please note, this is an Independent Contactor position, which means the person in this role must have the ability to deliver project-based work autonomously and in an agreed upon timeframe. This is not a regular, W-2 employee position, but rather a 1099 employee who invoices us for completed work.
What You'll Do
- Design and produce print and digital marketing materials, including advertisements, postcards, brochures, flyers, forms, booklets, signage, digital graphics, email assets, social media content, and other campaign materials.
- Extend established campaign concepts and creative direction across multiple formats, sizes, audiences, and channels.
- Evaluate existing marketing materials and refresh or redesign them to meet new objectives, messaging, offers, or brand requirements.
- Prepare production-ready files and manage revisions through final delivery.
- Apply Maps brand standards consistently while using strong typography, layout, hierarchy, imagery, and other fundamental design principles.
- Collaborate with Marketing team members to translate project briefs, copy, and business needs into effective creative.
- Make thoughtful design recommendations when an existing approach can be improved.
- Incorporate feedback efficiently and manage multiple projects with varying timelines and priorities.
- Provide occasional support for social media content, basic content development, campaign coordination, and other marketing initiatives.
- Help the Marketing team manage periods of high production volume and meet campaign deadlines.
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Demonstrated professional experience designing a wide variety of print and digital marketing materials.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating typography, layout, visual hierarchy, brand application, and production design skills.
- Experience working within established brand guidelines and adapting creative across multiple channels and formats.
- Strong understanding of print and digital production requirements, including preparing accurate, production-ready files.
- Ability to interpret a creative brief or existing campaign direction and execute independently.
- Strong attention to detail, including proofreading, consistency, formatting, and quality control.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and respond constructively to feedback.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience developing social media graphics and content.
- Copywriting, editing, or content development experience.
- Experience supporting integrated marketing campaigns across print, digital, email, web, and social channels.
- Familiarity with financial services, credit unions, or another regulated industry.
- Experience working as part of an in-house marketing team or creative agency.
- Basic knowledge of digital marketing platforms, content management systems, or marketing automation tools.
Compensation
This is an Independent Contractor (1099) opportunity. The contractor will be paid a negotiated fee for services based on the scope of work, deliverables, experience, and project needs. Nothing in this posting should be construed as creating an W-2 employment relationship.
Working Arrangement
This is a contract position expected to average approximately
10–15 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours based on project volume and business needs.
Preference will be given to contractors located in the
Salem metro area. The engagement is primarily remote; however, the scope of work may occasionally include project-related meetings, collaboration sessions, site visits, or other activities that are most effectively completed in person.
Workload may vary from week to week. The successful contractor should be comfortable working independently, communicating availability clearly, and responding to changing priorities and deadlines.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means helping the Maps Marketing team move more work from idea to execution without compromising quality. You'll provide reliable creative capacity, reduce production bottlenecks, maintain brand consistency, and help campaigns and projects get into market efficiently.
We're looking for someone who can quickly become a trusted extension of the team: someone who understands the assignment, asks smart questions when needed, and gets strong work across the finish line.
