Electrical Designer – Industrial Machinery

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to support the design and development of custom industrial machinery. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in industrial electrical design, machine control systems, and electrical documentation within an Engineer-to-Order (ETO) environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop production-ready electrical schematics and control panel layouts for custom industrial machinery.
- Create electrical wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Design and document machine control systems, including PLC I/O, VFDs, servo systems, and safety circuits.
- Select appropriate electrical components and hardware based on machine requirements.
- Update and maintain legacy electrical drawings and documentation.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with UL508A, NFPA 79, and applicable NEC requirements.
- Work closely with Controls Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and other cross-functional teams.
- Provide electrical design support throughout the manufacturing and production process.
- Review designs and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of industrial electrical design experience.
- 7–10 years of overall relevant experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
- Strong experience designing machine control systems.
- Experience with PLC I/O, VFDs, servo systems, and machine safety circuits.
- Experience working in an Engineer-to-Order (ETO) environment.
- Experience creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical components and control systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation systems.
- Knowledge of UL508A, NFPA 79, and NEC standards.
- Experience in plastics extrusion, converting, or similar industrial machinery.
- Background in industrial automation and machine safety.
- Experience supporting custom-built or highly engineered industrial equipment.

- Must be able to work onsite in Pawcatuck, Connecticut.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple electrical design projects and meet production timelines.
