Operating as a year-round program, we serve families and athletes across Minnesota and Independent/ Unattached para athletes, providing consistent opportunities to train, compete, and grow.

Company Description Apex Para Athletics is a nonprofit elite para-athletics development program focused on high-performance coaching and competition pathways for athletes with disabilities. The organization connects grassroots participation to collegiate, national, and Paralympic opportunities, creating clear routes for long-term athlete development. Apex Para Athletics supports athletes with specialized technology, expert coaching, and individualized training to help them reach peak performance. The program collaborates with partners and stakeholders across the sport and disability communities to expand access to competitive para-athletics. Role Description The Sports Program Grant Writer is a volunteer role responsible for securing funding to support Apex Para Athletics’ programs, athletes, and equipment needs. This hybrid role is based in the Greater Minneapolis–St. Paul Area, with a mix of on-site collaboration and work-from-home flexibility. Day-to-day tasks include identifying potential grant opportunities, conducting prospect research, and aligning funding priorities with organizational initiatives in para-athletics. The grant writer will prepare compelling proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports that clearly communicate program impact, budget needs, and performance outcomes. The role also involves maintaining a grants calendar, tracking deadlines, supporting grant administration, and collaborating with coaches, program staff, and leadership to gather data and success stories. Assisting Apex Para Athletics athletes in finding, securing, and obtaining individual grants to support their personal athletic development, equipment, and competition expenses. This position contributes to the sustainability and growth of para-athletics pathways by helping secure resources for coaching, competitions, and specialized technology.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Grant Writing and Proposal Writing, with the ability to produce clear, persuasive, and well-structured funding requests.
- Experience in Grant Administration, including tracking deadlines, managing application requirements, and supporting reporting and compliance.
- Strength in Prospect Research and Fundraising, including identifying potential funders and aligning opportunities with program goals.
- Skill in researching, guiding, and assisting individual athletes with finding and applying for dedicated adaptive sports grants.
- Strong written communication, editing, and attention to detail, with the ability to tailor messaging to foundations, corporations, and individual donors.
- Ability to synthesize program data, budgets, and impact metrics into concise narratives for grant applications and reports.
- Comfort working in a hybrid environment in the Greater Minneapolis–St. Paul Area, collaborating with staff and volunteers both in person and remotely.
- Interest in para-athletics, adaptive sports, or nonprofit program development; prior experience in sports, disability advocacy, or nonprofits is beneficial.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple deadlines and priorities; proficiency with basic productivity tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, shared drives).
