The Queensborough Community College Fund, Inc., is seeking an experienced Institutional Grant Research & Proposal Writing Consultant to help secure transformational funding for student success initiatives at Queensborough Community College, part of the City University of New York (CUNY).
This is a flexible, independent contractor opportunity for a seasoned grant professional with a proven track record in higher education fundraising. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of the philanthropic landscape, exceptional proposal development skills, and strategic insight into foundation and corporate funding opportunities that align with the mission of a community college serving a diverse student population.
We are seeking an expert who understands the community college funding landscape and has a demonstrated record of securing philanthropic support for student success initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Conduct targeted prospect research to identify foundation and corporate funding opportunities aligned with institutional priorities.
- Develop compelling institutional narratives that effectively communicate QCC's mission, impact, and strategic goals.
- Write and manage competitive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other funding applications.
- Provide strategic grant-seeking guidance, helping prioritize opportunities with the greatest potential for success.
- Manage the grants pipeline and submission calendar, ensuring timely and coordinated proposal development.
- Collaborate with college leadership to gather data, outcomes, and program information needed to develop competitive funding requests.
Who We're Looking For
- Five or more years of successful grant development experience in higher education, preferably at a community college.
- Documented success securing major foundation and corporate grants, with a strong record of funded proposals.
- Knowledge of equity-focused and student success funding opportunities, including student retention, workforce development, male achievement initiatives, and women's leadership programs.
- Strong understanding of the philanthropic landscape and the funders most likely to invest in community college priorities.
- Exceptional writing, research, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a disciplined grants pipeline and meeting critical deadlines.
