About the Company
We're a San Francisco creative studio working with the most ambitious technology teams on the planet — the founders and engineers building the future before anyone else can see it. We capture their vision through brand films, product videos, documentary, animation, and content strategy — and we're building the defining agency for deep tech and science.
About the Role
We're looking for a Social Media Marketing Manager to run social on two fronts: Story's own channels, and the channels of the clients we work with. You'll partner directly with specific client teams (some of the most ambitious founders and engineers in deep tech, research, and beyond) to build and run their social media marketing, while also owning how Story shows up online. This is a full-stack social role: you'll set the strategy, build the plan, and then execute it yourself: writing, designing, scheduling, posting, and iterating. You'll work closely with our design, motion, and client strategy teams to make sure everything we publish looks and sounds like it belongs at an agency operating at Ogilvy scale.
Responsibilities
- Own social strategy for Story's channels and for assigned client accounts: positioning, voice, platforms, and growth goals across LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
- Run social media marketing for specific clients: develop their strategy, manage their calendars, create their content, and serve as their day-to-day social partner.
- Build and manage content calendars across Story and client accounts; planning weeks ahead while staying nimble enough to jump on the moment.
- Execute end to end: write copy, prepare and schedule posts, publish, and engage with each community daily.
- Create assets yourself: social graphics, thumbnails, short-form cutdowns, and simple motion pieces, with support from our design and motion teams for bigger swings.
- Contribute design work that's on-brand for each account: layouts, typography, and templates that keep every feed cohesive.
- Track performance, report on what's working, internally to our team and externally to clients, and fold learnings back into the strategy.
- Manage your own files, versioning, and delivery timelines.
Qualifications
- A track record of growing social accounts; show us channels you've run and what happened while you ran them.
- Comfortable working directly with clients: presenting strategy, taking notes, and managing multiple accounts with distinct voices at once.
- Strong writing and a sharp eye for visual craft; proficiency in Figma and/or Adobe Creative Suite for creating your own assets.
- Fluency with social platforms, scheduling tools, and analytics.
- Ability to complete a paid test project as part of the hiring process.
- Based in the SF Bay Area or willing to relocate.
- Prior professional experience and college degrees are not required — your work speaks for itself.
Required Skills
- Strategic thinker who can also ship; comfortable moving between planning and hands-on execution daily.
- Strong design sensibility across social formats (you can make assets that don't need a designer's rescue).
- Fluency in platform culture; you know what works on each channel and why.
- Fast turnarounds without sacrificing quality.
- Self-motivated, organized, and reliable under real deadlines.
- Open to feedback; quick to implement notes.
- Good communicator who works well inside a small, collaborative team and represents it well in front of clients.
- Able to switch between brand voices cleanly.
Preferred Skills
Our Take on AI: We believe in real people doing real work. We don't believe in AI replacing human creativity but are open to using it as a tool where it genuinely helps — moodboarding, certain production shortcuts, workflow support.
