ABOUT BELLWEATHER
Bellweather is a creative agency for legacy brands: the nonprofits, cultural institutions, healthcare systems, and government organizations that are part of people’s lives. We’ve spent a decade helping these organizations find what makes them matter and bringing it to life through immersive research, artistic collaboration, and creative work that doesn’t look or feel like anyone else’s.
Our clients include Brooklyn Public Library, MetroPlusHealth, Museum Hue, NYC Votes, and Visit Baltimore, among others. We're a certified woman-owned business and a Webby Award–winning agency.
Our work starts with immersive research and deep listening. We spend time in communities, collaborating with artists, poets, photographers, and filmmakers to find what makes an organization extraordinary. From there, we build strategic platforms and brand identities that our clients can own and carry forward long after the engagement ends.
ABOUT THE NAME
Our name combines "bellwether" (a leading indicator) and "weather" (constant change). We help organizations find what makes them extraordinary and give it a platform that lasts.
HOW WE WORK
Bellweather is a fully remote company. Our team is distributed across the U.S., with most of our collaboration happening in Eastern time. We've built our workflows, meetings, and creative process around remote work from the start.

THE ROLE
Do you write the kind of content that makes people trust an institution? Do you want your work to help libraries, hospitals, and civic agencies lead their field? Then we want to hear from you.
Bellweather works with institutions that hold public trust, and our own content has to meet the same standard we set for theirs. This is a writing job, first and last. We are hiring a Content Writer whose work lives in two places: the content we publish on Bellweather’s own channels—our blog and our social media—and the proposals that win us new partners. Both run on strong, persuasive copy, and both will be yours to write.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Writing for Bellweather’s channels:
- Writing blog posts and longer-form pieces that show our point of view on creative work in the public trust sectors.
- Turning client projects and research findings into published work that earns attention from the right buyers.
- Writing case study text that helps visitors understand the work, the process, and the methodology behind it.
Writing and assembling proposals:
- Writing the connective tissue, the cover letter, and the opening that names the client’s actual problem, so each proposal is built for the institution receiving it.
- Pulling the right case studies, methodology, and team details into a clean, persuasive document once a project is qualified. Our proposals are copy-heavy, and a core part of this role.
Driving our social channels:
- Taking the content you write and giving it a life on our channels: deciding what we post, where, and why, and what each channel should do for the business.
- Writing and scheduling the posts, and reading the numbers to keep the plan sharpened.
Supporting client work, as needed:
- Helping on billable client engagements when the work calls for it, most often social content and marketing copy.
- This part flexes. When a proposal is live, proposals come first; client work fills the steadier weeks.

REQUIREMENTS
- Three to five years of professional writing experience in content marketing, communications, journalism, or agency work.
- Writing samples that show range: at least one longer piece (an article, essay, report, or proposal section) and something short and sharp (social copy, email, or a campaign).
- Experience writing persuasive documents: proposals, pitches, grant applications, or RFP responses strongly preferred.
- Enough fluency with social platforms and analytics to run our channels day to day and adjust based on what the numbers say.
NICE TO HAVE
- Agency or mission-led experience is a plus, but not required.
- It matters more that you write clearly, think on your feet, and are not afraid to ask questions.
______________________________
WHAT WE OFFER
- Comprehensive health benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Unlimited/Flexible PTO
- Fully remote work environment with flexible scheduling.

HOW TO APPLY
Send your resume, two or three writing samples, and a brief note about why this role interests you to jobs@bellweather.agency with the subject line [Content Writer - Applicant Name]. Your samples matter more to us than your resume: include at least one piece of long-form writing, and tell us briefly what your role was in each. We read the writing first.
Bellweather is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and identities.
