We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead our operational teams, drive strategic initiatives, and support the continued growth of our organization.
The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of H&S Industrial. This executive leadership role will plan, direct, and coordinate company operations to improve performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability while ensuring exceptional service to our customers. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with extensive experience in industrial fabrication and mechanical operations, project management, financial oversight, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute operational strategies that support company growth and long-term objectives.
- Identify and implement cost-effective processes and operational improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage departmental budgets.
- Forecast operational costs and monitor financial performance.
- Ensure resources are utilized efficiently to maximize profitability.
Project & Operational Management
- Oversee all operational activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with customer contracts.
- Monitor project schedules and adjust resources as necessary to meet deadlines.
- Ensure high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction throughout project execution.
- Understand and support fabrication, installation, and mechanical operating procedures.
Customer & Business Relationships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and strategic partners.
- Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally.
- Promote an exceptional customer experience that encourages repeat business.
Operational Excellence
- Evaluate business processes and implement improvements that increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Leverage technology and operational data to improve performance and maintain a competitive advantage.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop department managers and employees.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and professional development.
- Develop performance improvement plans when necessary.
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
- Facilitate team meetings and coordinate ongoing training initiatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety programs and regulatory requirements.
Reporting
- Provide regular operational and financial reports to the executive leadership team.
- Communicate project status, performance metrics, strategic initiatives, and improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Proven success leading operations within an industrial fabrication or mechanical contracting environment.
- Strong experience in project management, budgeting, and financial oversight.
- Thorough understanding of fabrication and mechanical processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to improve operational efficiency and lead strategic initiatives.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety compliance, quality management systems, and industry best practices.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive operations management experience within the industrial, fabrication, or mechanical contracting industry.
- Experience leading multiple departments and managing large-scale projects is strongly preferred.
