Location: Remote within ±3h EST; HQ in NYC
Type: 1099, 24-32/hours per week. (6-8 week contract to start, longer contract pending success)

Role Overview
We’re seeking a seasoned Senior Brand Designer to join our tight knit team– a versatile visual creator who thrives in agile, multidisciplinary workflows and can execute across contexts. You’ll be working with high-profile retainer clients across science, technology and engineering, with deliverables spanning print and digital marketing collateral, product merch, experiential, and motion graphics. This role requires extreme discipline and strategic time management as the requests for turnaround will range from ~48 hours to a few days. You’ll translate ideas and strategies into exceptional work using established brand systems that Asimov has previously created. While you’ll primarily operate autonomously, some deliverables may require collaboration with the broader Asimov design team.
Key Responsibilities
- Concept + Design Execution: Produce strong visual designs across diverse formats (print, digital, physical environments, and motion graphics) as well as mediums (merchandise, posters, looping animations for screens, 3D) aligned with Asimov’s established brand systems.
- Autonomy: Ability to take direction and work independently without hand holding. Confident in taking big steps from brief to design research (quick moodboarding, sketches) to conceptual design (fast iterative designs on the requested asset) and through to execution.
- Cross-Context Flexibility: Quickly adapt skills to new tasks weekly and context switch between industries (like software, terraforming, crypto, advanced manufacturing, and more) as well as medium (graphic design, motion design).
- Client Collaboration: Communicate design rationale and interpret feedback to the creative director - refine work independently without heavy oversight.
- Time + Project Management: Balance multiple concurrent projects, anticipate changing priorities and resources, and meet deadlines with foresight and minimal guidance.
Qualifications
Experience
- 4+ years in brand design environments, design studio, startup or agency role delivering high-quality visual work.
- Demonstrated ability to take direction and execute independently.
- Comfortable with rapid context-switching and iterative feedback loops.
Skills
Prerequisites
- Excellent proficiency in Figma, Adobe CS
- Proficient in generative tooling (Midjourney, ChatGPT, others) and animation/motion design software (After Effects)
- Experience delivering polished final assets
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Strong work ethic with an ability to own design deliverables
- Ambition to work in a young and growing studio
Nice to have (but not required)
- Experience in presentation design (pitch decks, case studies, studio showreels).
- Interest or experience in other kinds of creative software (Motion design, animation, C4D, Creative Coding, Unreal)
- Social Media marketing experience
- Experience in house with non-design employers
