Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Grant Writer to join our growing team and support a diverse portfolio of nonprofit clients by developing competitive grant proposals, conducting funding research, and contributing to strategic fundraising efforts. The successful candidate will manage multiple client projects simultaneously while producing high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and supporting materials for foundation, corporate, and government funders. This role requires exceptional writing ability, strong project management skills, and the ability to quickly understand and adapt to diverse nonprofit missions, programs, and funding priorities.
Working closely with the Director of Grants and Client Strategy, clients, and the evaluation team, the Grant Writer will help ensure every proposal is strategically aligned, compliant with funder requirements, and submitted on time.
The ideal candidate enjoys building relationships with clients, translating complex ideas into compelling narratives, and serving as a strategic thought partner throughout the grant development process.

Key Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, and finalize grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports.
- Conduct prospect research to identify aligned funding opportunities.
- Develop project narratives, budgets, and supporting documentation.
- Track deadlines and maintain organized records within shared systems.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure funder alignment and compliance.
- Incorporate client feedback and ensure consistency in tone, formatting, and messaging.
- Maintain availability during normal business hours 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CST for scheduled client meetings, internal collaboration, and project discussions. While much of the work is completed independently, responsiveness during these hours is expected.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional grant writing experience.
- Demonstrated success in securing funding from foundations, corporations, or public agencies.
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism when working directly with clients.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Familiarity with the Louisiana and Gulf South funding landscape is a plus.
- *Preferably located in Louisiana and able to attend meetings in New Orleans/Baton Rouge/Southeast Louisiana area as needed.

Compensation & Benefits
- $23-$30 per hour, commensurate with experience.
- This is a full-time position averaging 40 hours per week.
