Highsnobiety is seeking a
News Writer with a strong voice and a high metabolism. As a member of the editorial team, you will shape and elevate Highsnobiety’s voice through curated daily content packaged for both digital and social channels. You have an innate sense of the world of Highsnobiety, which covers culture through a style lens, and/or your own flair for — and obsession with — topics that feel vital to our readers.
You will work closely with the News Director to define our news operation, ideating, pitching, drafting, and publishing stories reflective of Highsnobiety’s taste. You will work with the greater editorial team to align on content, direction, and angles while working toward mastering them yourself.
You bring a deep passion for good clothes and personal style. You understand the tastes of the day, but you have your own lens on them and an instinct for what’s next.
Your Mission
- Source and write multiple engaging, informative, and relevant style news stories daily, conceptualized with angles that are distinct to Highsnobiety, and deliver them in a timely manner.
- Proactively ideate new content and engagement strategies to grow our site traffic and distinguish our platform.
- Ensure copy is aligned with Highsnobiety’s tone of voice, house style, brand values, and editorial standards.
- Stay up to date with fashion, footwear, and culture news and trends, along with any other topics relevant to your role, to Highsnobiety, and its audience.
- Participate in select events as a Highsnobiety representative, including press days, interviews, and store events.
- Assist with covering weekends and holidays when necessary, in collaboration with the rest of the team.
Your Skills
- Minimum 3 years of writing for a digital publication.
- Ability to make phone calls, source relevant documentation, and conduct interviews as they relate to a story.
- A strong record of pitching, reporting, and writing compelling and accurate copy.
- An encyclopedic knowledge of the fashion industry and culture at large, as well as a feel for what people are — and will be — talking about.
- A solid understanding of SEO and social media.
- A deep understanding of the Highsnobiety brand.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- The ability to self-motivate and juggle multiple assignments at once.
- A desire to collaborate and improve.
