Job Title: Curriculum Development Contractor
Cancer Pathways is seeking a skilled and collaborative Curriculum Development Contractor to support the expansion and enhancement of the curricular framework for our school-based prevention education program, Cancer Happens®. This evidence-informed program empowers students to build healthy behaviors, increase health literacy, and reduce cancer risk through engaging, age-appropriate education.
The contractor will work closely with the Cancer Pathways team to revise, strengthen, and expand existing curriculum content for grades 6–12, with a particular focus on HPV and cancer prevention education. Responsibilities include refining lesson plans, developing new educational activities and multimedia resources, and ensuring alignment with national and state health education standards, best practices in youth education, and culturally responsive instructional approaches.
The ideal candidate has experience in curriculum design, adolescent health education, and standards alignment, and is comfortable collaborating across teams to create engaging, accessible, and student-centered learning materials.
This is a remote, project-based, contract position anticipated to run through September 2026, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and funding. Compensation ranges from $32–$38 per hour, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Refine and update existing lessons to align with curriculum scope and sequence and differentiate content for grade bands 6–8 and 9–12.
- Co-develop new lesson plans, activities, and multimedia content, with a focus on HPV education for students in grades 6–12.
- Collaborate with Cancer Pathways staff to refine existing lesson plans and ensure alignment between instructional content, activities, and learning objectives.
Requirements:
- At least two years of formal teaching experience.
- Proven experience in curriculum development, particularly in K-12 health education, Washington state.
- Strong writing and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with CP staff on a regular basis until project completion.
