Apparel Cut & Sew Designer
We are seeking a polished, detail-oriented Cut & Sew Designer to support Men’s and Women’s Apparel and Accessories during a maternity leave coverage period. This freelance opportunity is ideal for a designer with strong technical execution, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced product development environment.
Position Overview
- Support the apparel and accessories business across design execution, CAD updates, and development documentation
- Partner closely with Design, Development, Technical Design, and Merchandising teams throughout the product lifecycle
- Help ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment across sketches, design handoffs, and product details as changes are made
- Provide coverage during overlapping maternity leaves within the design team
Key Responsibilities
- Update cut & sew sketches throughout the development cycle to reflect style changes and design direction
- Create and maintain detailed design handoffs, including trims, construction details, fabrication, and fit intent
- Partner with Technical Design to support fit sessions and revise CADs and handoff materials as needed
- Maintain design decks, line sheets, and supporting documentation across multiple platforms
- Assist with initial color development in partnership with cross-functional team members
- Support BOM color input and help maintain accuracy across systems and product records
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure product briefs are executed clearly and accurately
Qualifications
- 5+ years of apparel design experience required
- Accessory design experience preferred, but not required
- Experience with product line development and design execution
- Strong understanding of fit sessions and design iteration
- Working knowledge of PLM systems
- High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
- Experience with Figma preferred
- 3D software experience, including CLO, is a plus
- BA or BS in Design or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred
