Position Summary

The Marketing Department is looking for creative student leaders to join our team as Student Peer Mentors focused on being Pima’s Social Media Ambassadors. In this role, you will help attract and recruit future students, welcome incoming students, and build a strong campus community online. Your main focus will be telling real student stories, interviewing your peers about their college journeys, and creating helpful video tutorials to guide students through enrollment and college life. Working with guidance from our marketing team, you will brainstorm creative content ideas and use college resources to show prospective students what makes life as a Pima student so exciting.
The position requires creativity, flexibility, initiative, and drive. The Peer Mentors need to be approachable, dependable, efficient, enthusiastic, and hard-working. Strong interpersonal skills are essential. Social Media Ambassadors may be required to travel to more than one campus for work assignments when needed, and may also work remotely or independently as needed. Social Media Ambassadors will need the confidence to create trending and engaging social media content in a wide range of different environments across the College on a day-to-to day basis.
They will work very closely with the Marketing Department and other Peer Mentors. Creating strong collaborative working relationships across all groups is essential.
The work schedule for this position may include working evenings, weekends, and at multiple campus locations; when needed.
About Temporary Employment
This position has 2 vacant positions and will establish a qualified applicant pool for part-time temporary positions. Applications will remain active for 6 months to a year and selected candidates may be contacted as positions become available or when immediate staffing needs arise. Placement in the pool does not guarantee employment. The applicant pool will be refreshed annually.
Temporary applicants may be hired for specific assignments or placed in an applicant pool for future opportunities, depending on enrollment levels and business needs. If selected from this pool of applicants, candidates contacted will receive details regarding the specific assignment and will have the opportunity to confirm interest and availability.
We are seeking dedicated part-time temporary employees to join our qualified applicant pool. Selected candidates will be considered for placement as positions become available or when immediate staffing needs arise.
Part-time temporary roles offer flexible scheduling and the opportunity to support a diverse population of students in achieving their educational goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Peer Mentors will assist with the following, which may include but not limited to:
- Tell Real Student Stories to Recruit New Students: Interview current students and share their real experiences, successes, and insights on social media. You will use these stories to show high school students and community members what Pima is really like and inspire them to enroll
- Build an Online Community and Connect with People: Actively engage with prospective students, current peers, and community members on our social media platforms. You will answer basic questions from a student's perspective, spark friendly online conversations, and build excitement around our campus programs
- Create Helpful Step-by-Step Guides: Make clear, easy-to-follow video tutorials and digital content that help students figure out how to sign up for classes, navigate college websites, and find helpful campus resources
- Brainstorm and Share Creative Ideas: Participate in team meetings to brainstorm fun content ideas, give feedback from a student's perspective, and help the marketing team plan outreach projects for College events
- Spread the Word About Campus Events: Help promote important college deadlines, fun campus activities, student resources, and recruitment events so that your peers stay connected and involved
- Follow Pima Brand Guidelines: Use our established marketing calendars, logos, and style guidelines to plan, film, and create daily digital content both on your own and with your teammates
Job Requirements/Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED)
- Achieve satisfactory academic progress (2.5 GPA and 70% completion rate or higher preferred)
AND
- Be registered for at least 6 credits at PCC/UA for the following semester
- Experience or strong aptitude to learn social media management and storytelling
- Awareness in social media trends with the ability to engage the community on camera
Preferred
- Skilled with Edits, Canva, and/or Adobe
- Strong writing skills
- Strong on-camera experience and/or willingness to learn
- Skilled in visual storytelling and creation including video production and editing, graphic design, and/or photography
Special Conditions Of Employment
- Available to work flexible shifts at multiple campus locations, when needed, including occasional nights and weekends
