Freelance Associate Designer
A growing company in the children’s apparel industry is seeking a Freelance Associate Designer to support the development of seasonal collections in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This opportunity is ideal for a creative, highly organized designer with a strong eye for detail and a passion for product development.
This role will work closely with the design team to help bring concepts to life from initial inspiration through sample review. The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of design experience, a degree in Apparel Design, and strong technical skills in Adobe Illustrator and Excel.
Responsibilities
Research fashion trends, concepts, colors, and materials relevant to seasonal collections
Create and update technical flats and design sketches
Prepare presentation materials for internal review meetings
Attend fittings and assist with updates to tech packs and design documentation
Organize and manage design samples, materials, and showroom assets
Support the day-to-day needs of the design team throughout the product development process
Qualifications
Degree in Apparel Design or related field
1–2 years of relevant design experience
Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Excel
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Available to work on-site in New York City, five days per week
