A 20-25 minute short film, already shot and with an initial edit, is seeking a dedicated video editor to refine and elevate the project for festival submissions and portfolio use. The film explores the psychological journey of Roman, a man confronting childhood trauma through hypnosis, only to discover his therapist is a manifestation of his darker self. This is a passion project with limited, negotiable compensation, offering creative ownership and the chance to collaborate closely with the director. The project is based in Brussels, with a preference for local editors to enable efficient in-person or hybrid collaboration. There is potential for the short to be developed into a feature-length film.
Responsibilities
- Review and refine the existing edit, enhancing narrative flow and emotional impact
- Collaborate with the director to implement creative feedback and vision
- Edit for pacing, continuity, and visual storytelling, utilizing long takes and unconventional lighting
- Prepare the film for festival submissions, ensuring technical standards are met
- Manage sound design and integrate music as needed
- Deliver final export in required formats for portfolio and festival use
Skills And Requirements
- Proven experience editing narrative short films or similar projects
- Proficiency with industry-standard editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro)
- Strong sense of visual storytelling, pacing, and emotional tone
- Ability to work independently and take creative ownership of the editing process
- Excellent communication skills for collaborative feedback sessions
- Based in Brussels or able to work locally/hybrid as needed
