Mode Search is supporting a luxury fashion brand in the search for a talented Freelance Footwear Designer. This opportunity is suited to a highly creative individual with a strong background in luxury design, capable of delivering innovative and refined footwear concepts that align with a premium market positioning.
This is a remote freelance position, open globally, offered on a project-based contract with potential for ongoing collaboration. The successful candidate will work closely with the leadership team and report into the founder / Creative Director, collaborating cross-functionally with product development and production teams.
The Role
- Design and develop seasonal and capsule footwear collections across women’s categories
- Translate creative direction into original concepts, sketches, and detailed technical drawings
- Produce comprehensive tech packs to support development and manufacturing
- Conduct in-depth research into trends, materials, and innovations within the luxury footwear space
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure alignment with brand vision and product strategy
- Select and specify premium materials, colour palettes, and finishes
- Liaise with manufacturers to maintain design integrity and high-quality standards
- Review prototypes and provide clear, constructive feedback for refinement
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in footwear design in the luxury segment
- Strong portfolio showcasing high-quality, design-led footwear projects
- Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Solid understanding of footwear construction, materials, and production processes
- Ability to create accurate and detailed technical documentation
- Strong awareness of luxury market trends and consumer expectations
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote environment
- Highly organised with strong time management and ability to meet deadlines
