Biochemist – AI Data Trainer
About The Role
Your deep expertise in biochemistry is exactly what the next generation of AI needs. At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research teams to build and refine cutting-edge scientific models — and we need PhD-level biochemists to help us get the science right.
In this fully remote contract role, you'll put your domain knowledge to work by stress-testing AI reasoning on topics like protein folding, metabolic flux analysis, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics. You'll expose where AI goes wrong and help shape models that are accurate, rigorous, and trustworthy for real scientific use.
No prior AI experience required — your biochemistry expertise is the qualification.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Advanced Problems: Develop complex, domain-specific biochemistry challenges across areas like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to probe AI performance.
- Author Gold-Standard Solutions: Write rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that set the standard for high-level scientific reasoning in AI systems.
- Audit AI Outputs: Critically evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and quantitative reasoning for technical accuracy, scientific validity, and safety.
- Refine AI Reasoning: Identify and document logical errors in AI outputs — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied biochemical principles — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance.
Who You Are
- Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline.
- Domain Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics.
- Analytical Writer: Able to communicate complex biological and chemical concepts clearly, precisely, and concisely in written form.
- Detail-Oriented: High precision when reviewing chemical equations, molecular structures, experimental protocols, and quantitative data.
- No prior AI or machine learning experience required.
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or quality assurance workflows.
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST.
- Background in scientific writing, peer review, or technical editing.
