This role is focused on managing and executing real-time social media coverage for a major annual medical conference in Chicago, taking place from May 4th to 8th. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of live content generation, engagement, and event promotion across the association’s social media channels. The position requires on-site presence throughout the event, working closely with event organizers and key stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging updates that reflect the significance of the meeting and its participants. The event gathers leading professionals in pediatric surgery for scientific sessions, advocacy, and educational programming, making this an opportunity to shape the online presence of a highly respected organization during a pivotal industry gathering.
Deliverables
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy tailored to live event coverage.
- Manage real-time posting, live-tweeting, and multimedia content creation (photos, videos, stories) across platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Coordinate with event staff and speakers to capture key moments, announcements, and highlights.
- Monitor and respond to audience engagement, questions, and comments in a timely and professional manner.
- Track analytics and provide a post-event report summarizing reach, engagement, and key outcomes.
- Ensure all content aligns with the association’s brand voice and professional standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing social media for live events, preferably in the healthcare, academic, or professional association sectors.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices for live coverage.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft concise, engaging, and accurate posts under tight deadlines.
- Experience with multimedia content creation, including photography and short-form video.
- Ability to work on-site in Chicago for the duration of the event (May 4th–8th); willingness to travel is essential.
