WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

As a Community Manager / Copywriter,you’ll be on the front lines of creative storytelling and writing social post copy for a large gaming brand.
We're looking for someone who's excited about gaming, the gaming community, and gaming culture. You’re someone who lives and breathes social media and thrives at the intersection of gaming, social trends, and fandom.
You understand the cultural intricacies of each social platform and know how to adapt your ideas to what works best across Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, and everything in between.
You can write in a playful and socially native voice and know how to adapt it in a way that makes sense for a gaming brand. You can also write more serious and straight-forward when needed.
Your creativity has breadth, allowing you to write and ideate content that ranges from humorous to wholesome or from meme post to educational product update.
You’re someone who loves to discuss trends, brainstorm ideas, write creatively and take pride in your work.
You enjoy video games and understand how the gaming community thrives and drives culture on social media. You're likely a player of console and/or PC games yourself!
***PLEASE NOTE: This is an ongoing FREELANCE ROLE with full-time hours, and the possibility of converting to a full-time employee assuming it's a great fit on both sides.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
This role is social forward, working in the spaces of Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other social platforms. The ideal candidate is socially fluid amongst these channels and must have a knack for internet humor, culture, gaming and fandom.
This position will report to the Group Creative Director and will focus on social content ideation and copywriting for a variety of social channels for one of the largest gaming brands in the world.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Write clear, concise, clever, and creative social post copy that brings the brand’s voice and tone to life
- Merge socially native tone with brand voice tone and find the balance between the two
- Pitch engaging social content ideas for campaigns, reactive trends, and evergreen content
- Tailor copy to different social platforms and screens of all shapes and sizes
- Adapt socially native copy in a way that’s mindful of the tone of various games and IP
- Evaluate and shape ideas based on brand voice and tone, strategy, production feasibility, and the game you are working on
- Partner with art/visual oriented creative teammates to ensure all content is on voice, on brand, and as compelling as possible.
- Sell your ideas through internally and externally through well thought out concept slides
- Collaborate with creative and strategy team members to bring ideas to life with oversight from creative leads
- Stay up to date on social best practices, social trends, and gaming culture
- Maintain a deep understanding of the brand and its audiences and write with the audiences/fandom in mind
WHAT YOU'LL (IDEALLY) BRING TO THE TABLE:
- 3-4 years of experience copywriting at an advertising, marketing, or entertainment agency/brand OR copywriting in a community manager or social media manager role
- In-depth knowledge of a variety of social media platforms, particularly X/Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok
- Ability to speak fluent internet, yet also have a firm grasp on classic rules of grammar and syntax
- A strong understanding of the goal, audience, and message of a campaign and the ability to create nuanced copy to suit
- General knowledge of gaming culture and fandoms; being a gaming enthusiast is a HUGE plus
- A strong sense of humor and the ability to apply it in a way that makes sense for a brand
- An ability to participate in social trends as a brand in a way that isn’t ‘cringe’ or ‘fellow kids’
- Exceptional written and communication skills with an ability to translate your great ideas into pitch slides
- A strong sense of proactivity and accountability
- Proven time management and organizational skills
- An ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects amidst (sometimes) tight deadlines
- Desire to learn, grow, teach, and contribute in a fast-paced, creative environment
- A passion for creative problem solving and attention to detail
