Position Title Graduate Assistant: Social Media Coordinator Department Housing & Residence Life Appointment Term Spring (January - May) FLSA Exempt Job Summary
The Social Media Coordinator is a Graduate Assistant for the Fall and Spring semesters. The Social Media Coordinator reports to and is under the direct supervision of the professional staff member in charge of Social Media and Marketing. The Social Media Coordinator will engage with the online community as a form of marketing for the Housing and Residence Life department.
Essential Duties
- Manage official Housing and Residential Life social media accounts.
- Develop a social media calendar for each semester, ensuring frequent posts and engagement.
- Analyze engagement metrics to improve reach and effectiveness.
- Create engaging content (photos, videos, graphics, captions) highlighting student life, student staff features, campus events, and housing updates.
- Create promotional videos, reels, and posts highlighting residence hall life, staff, and events recaps.
- Attend Housing & Residence Life and select Student Affairs major events to provide marketing support.
- Represent the department at various current and prospective student facing events.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and 1:1s.
- Assist with RA training and opening/closing of the residence halls.
- Hold weekly office hours as established by position supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Must be accepted and enrolled into the Missouri Western State University graduate program.
- Maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA and enrolled in at least five (5) credit hours per semester.
Additional Requirements: This position is a live in position; a semi furnished apartment is provided. The incumbent must move into the apartment by January 7th, 2026, in order to attend training, which starts January 8th, 2026.
Preferred Qualifications

- Has previous experience running social media accounts.
- Can demonstrate knowledge of trends and content creation.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
Physical Demands Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Additional Demands
