We have office space in Houston & San Antonio, but you will primarily work remotely. Based on the anticipated amount of on-the-ground production this role is responsible for, you will need to be based in Texas.
Company Overview
TexasRanches.com is building the leading digital platform dedicated to the land, lifestyle, and culture of Texas ranching.
The Role
We’re looking for an Editorial Content Creator & Curator who lives and breathes Texas to help us tell our story in an authentic voice. As Editorial Content Creator & Curator, you’ll take the lead in finding partners in our peer companies and the Texans who inspire us and bring life to our website. You will be out in the field talking to makers, ranchers, old-timers and new hands to find the people, places, and stories that will be the soul of .
To do this job well, we need someone who knows and loves Texas and has a spirit for adventure. No one is a stranger. You can talk to a cowboy, ecologist, interior designer, winemaker… you name it. Our team has created a great framework for the business and the website, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t come to life without the connections, stories, and people of Texas - and the discipline to bring those stories to life with consistency and quality. That’s where you come in.
The nuts and bolts of the job is to get content for our website, which can happen in a lot of ways. Write content, find archival content, take pictures, interview people and use AI to transcribe it, collaborate on pieces with other companies, manage freelancers who create content, etc. We’re open to a lot of different methodologies. The most important thing in this role is having someone who is both a connector and a finisher; a person who is passionate about Texas, and equally committed to delivering high-quality, well-organized, and trustworthy content that reflects its spirit.

- Self-produce, and/or commission (and oversee) a network of freelance writers, photographers, and filmmakers.
- Maximize the impact and lifespan of each content piece by creating derivative assets — short clips, quotes, stills, and behind-the-scenes moments — for use across TXR’s social, web, and partner channels.
Editorial Strategy & Production

- Oversee sponsored content and brand collaborations — ensuring that partner features and co-created content align with TXR’s editorial standards and voice while driving measurable value for sponsors.
- Own all aspects of risk mitigation and content compliance, including securing and management of talent releases, location releases, copyright clearances, and rights-managed assets to ensure all content reflects the company’s commitment to professionalism and legal integrity.

- Experience in editorial direction, content strategy, or media production — ideally within lifestyle, outdoor, travel, or culture sectors.
- Strong editorial judgment and an eye for premium, cinematic storytelling.
- Experience creating content through the complete lifecycle of video and photo production and cross-platform storytelling (short-form, social, long-form, and documentary).
- Deep understanding of creating content for social media platforms including best practices, and format requirements.
- Experience creating and overseeing content that maintains editorial integrity.
Ideal Candidate Traits
- Equally comfortable getting into the literal weeds of Texas life on a cattle ranch or in the kitchen talking shop over a great bottle of Bourbon.
- Has a network of Texas-based photographers, writers, and cultural contributors.
- Both creative and operational — able to dream up story ideas, go out and shoot photo/videos, edit, and manage a pipeline of content efficiently.
- Curious, resourceful, and self-directed.
- Highly accountable and detail-oriented. Able to maintain the highest standards of quality while also managing multiple stories and contributors at once.

- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and helping build systems from the ground up.
