About the role
Travel Market Report, the voice of the travel advisor, is looking to add an Editor to their growing team launching Luxury Travel Report. The role will focus on the luxury travel segment, and includes story planning, writing, reporting, social media and SEO functions for the industry as a whole.
Key Responsibilities
· Beat & General Assignment Reporter: Pitch story ideas that are timely and well received by the target audience including both long-lead time and breaking news stories.
· Section Editor: Edit stories for the luxury segment, and back up other editors in other segments as needed.
· Editing and Production: Involved in all phases of production
· Social Media: Develop, implement and oversee all aspects of the luxury segment social media strategy
· Attend industry conference and local events: Travel domestically and internationally on a regular basis, identifying and tracking industry trends and story ideas.
· Special Projects: Spreadhead new initiatives, work with freelance writers, etc.
Role Requirements
· High level journalism skills and standard of ethics including editing for print and social media stories, 3 to 5 years minimum preferred for news, travel or lifestyle publication
· Curiosity for industry related trends and topics
· Enjoy fast turnaround reporting, working in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
· Ability to work 9 to 5 east coast hours, can be located anywhere in the US, but must have close airport access for travel
· Strong attention to detail, news judgement and a passion for accuracy
· Able to travel regularly
· Proficiency in MS Office applications, CMS, and social media
· AP Style, English language, and working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style
· Video or audio editing skills a plus
· Team player who is looking for their next role owning the luxury segment for a trade publication
