The opportunity
We're seeking an exceptional freelance graphic designer with expertise in both data visualization and infographic design to transform our complex e-commerce insights into compelling visual stories. You'll work directly with our creative and content teams to create sophisticated yet accessible visualizations and comprehensive infographics that enhance our blog content and highlight the unique value of SimplyCodes.
Responsibilities
- Create compelling data visualizations and comprehensive infographics that transform complex e-commerce insights into clear, engaging visual stories
- Design both focused data visualizations (charts, graphs) and full-scale infographics that tell complete data stories
- Work closely with our content team to understand data narratives and develop appropriate visualization concepts
- Maintain visual consistency with SimplyCodes brand while pushing creative boundaries
- Optimize visualizations and infographics for both desktop and mobile experiences
- Collaborate with writers and editors to ensure visual elements enhance storytelling
- Deliver production-ready files in appropriate formats for web publication
What we're looking for
Technical expertise:
- Extensive experience creating both data visualizations and comprehensive infographics for digital publication
- Proven ability to design compelling infographics that tell complete data stories
- Proficiency with Figma is required (non-negotiable)
- Strong vector illustration skills and ability to create custom illustrations for visualizations and infographics
- Strong understanding of data visualization principles and infographic design best practices
- Ability to transform raw data into meaningful visual narratives
- Knowledge of web design constraints and optimization techniques
Portfolio must demonstrate:
- Real-world data visualization and infographic design work (conceptual work alone is not sufficient)
- Examples of both focused data visualizations and comprehensive infographics that tell complete stories
- Vector illustration skills with examples of custom illustrations integrated into visualization projects
- Clean, sophisticated design style that balances complexity with accessibility
- Ability to visually communicate complex relationships and trends
- Creative approaches to standard chart types (bar, line, pie charts, etc.)
- Experience with diverse visualization forms (heatmaps, treemaps, network diagrams, etc.)
- Information architecture skills for organizing complex data in infographics
- Strong color theory application and typography skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to different subject matters
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities

Project details
- Freelance/contract position with potential for ongoing relationship
