Description
The Temporary Senior Designer works closely with the President, VP Of Design and Design Team to develop and execute the seasonal trend concept and merchandise strategy from inception to completion. The temp Senior Designer will collaborate closely with tech team and product development to create cohesive fits and color range across all skus. The temp Senior Designer will manage the design execution process to ensure all deadlines are met and quality is on brand.

What You'll Do
- Demonstrate creativity designing in-house and private label collections, coupled with a strong understanding of market dynamics and emerging trends.
- Research global market to identify new concepts in silhouettes, prints, graphics, fabrics, trims, color and fits.
- Shop markets for trends, inspiration and interpretation for the P.J. Salvage customer.
- Provide recommendations regarding print and graphic direction, seasonal themes, color palette, edits to line, and new concepts.
- Produce design sketches and make seasonal presentations of product designs.
- Create style board showing silhouette and color, fabric, print and graphic options.
- Work with freelance graphic artists to execute prints and graphics as needed.
- Create prints and graphics using in-stock elements and novelty fonts when possible.
- Clearly understand and incorporate the P.J. Salvage brand DNA into product design efforts.
- Design and create illustrator sketches for Tech packs including front and back sketch, construction details, material, trims, hardware spec.
- Maintain design records and ensure line sheets are up to date.
- Review and approve design and fit, lab dips, trims, and fabrics details, etc.
- Develop strong working relationships with cross-functional teams through communication and problem-solving.
- Mentor and guide junior designer(s).
- Exhibit a collaborative spirit and a solution focused working style.
- Be flexible to deadline demands, seasonal schedules, and shifting priorities.
Requirements
What You'll Need
- High school diploma required. Associate degree or bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- Seven (7) + years of design experience including technical knowledge.
- Proficient in Photoshop, & Illustrator, Microsoft Excel a plus and Outlook.
- Knit, sleepwear and lounge design experience preferred.
- Private label and branded experience valued.
- Extensive knowledge of current category fabrics and garment construction, as well as innovation in printing techniques and finishes.
- Extensive design and conceptual skills.
- Ability to set a creative tone and to inspire new ideas or concepts.
- Technical knowledge of fabric construction finishes and techniques.
- Articulate design intent in a fit room environment with cross functional team members.
- Strong communication skills including ability to work in a team environment, give honest, direct feedback and is a solid verbal and written communicator.
- Meet deadlines, prioritize appropriately, cope well with change, and maintain composure under pressure.
- Must be organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Timely sense of trends and market direction encompassing color, fabric, and silhouette.
- Demonstrates a passion for the customer brand, inspires individuals and relies on managerial skills to plan and accomplish goals.
- Possesses strong organizational time management skills.
This a hybrid role, with 4 days in our Irvine, CA office
PAY RATE: $45-55/hour
