How You’ll Make An Impact
The Graphic Designer will help represent the voice of visual branding for KCRW as a multi-platform media and culture brand. Reporting to the Art Director, this position will be responsible for helping to elevate and maintain the visual language of programs and events, digital advertising and newsletters, membership, and merchandise. Candidates should be forward-thinking regarding culture and visual trends and enjoy various styles, including hand illustration, poster and print graphics, typographic title treatment, and more.
A successful candidate will be comfortable conceiving and working on marketing campaigns and events from inception to production, collaborating with guest artists and handling day-to-day graphic requests from multiple departments as well as coordinating photo shoots for merch, artists, etc. They will present visual concepts, supervise and design promotional assets, and maintain design department protocols while working closely with the Digital, Communications, Events, Membership, and Programming departments. This is a position for someone who is a KCRW fan and is excited about the opportunity to boost the independent voice of culture in Southern California.
This is a part-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Art Director.
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Design cutting-edge creative assets to support podcasts, live streams, events, newsletters, and social media accounts with compelling typography and clean design
- Work with multiple departments on a wide range graphic needs
- Creating/resizing banner suites for web, social media, newsletters
- Design eye-catching banners with high conversion rates to promote new shows, podcasts, events, pledge drives, and live music performances
- Design and illustrate exciting artwork for branded merchandise including shirts, jackets, mugs, totes, hats, pins, and collectibles
- Communicate with teams and project managers to review project requirements, KPIs, and due dates
Here’s What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years of design experience; in collaborative, company setting a plus
- Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, HTML, CSS, Print Design, Google Docs, Dropbox
- Bonus: After Effects, Animated Gifs
- Self-starter with ability to set and meet reasonable deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills.

- KCRW employees covered by the 2022-2026 SAG-AFTRA/KCRW contract need to follow the union security article of the contract, become a full voting member or fee-paying non-member
- There are annual base dues plus working dues of 1.575% of the previous calendar year's earnings
- The broadcast initiation fee specific to KCRW is $720 for full time and $360 for part time and there are payment plans
