Position Overview:

RETHINK Retail is looking for a Managing Editor/Lead Writer to oversee content creation and editorial management for multiple B2B clients with a focus on the retail industry. This role demands a strategic thinker with exceptional writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a team of writers and editors. The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, curious, creative, takes initiative, and will adapt writing styles to meet client needs, from white papers to more targeted advertising. A key skill is the ability to learn about a new subject, analyze its trends, and relate specific client needs back to those trends with a moderate amount of citation as needed.This position is evenly divided between creating and managing content. You will spend approximately 60-70% of your time writing reports, blog posts, articles, and social media updates. The other 30-40% will be dedicated to organizing, outlining, and editing content produced by freelancers and team members.

Responsibilities:

Content Strategy & Planning:

Work directly with the account team to develop content strategies based on client business objectives.

Written Content Creation:

Write and edit high-quality B2B multimedia content for various channels, ensuring it is clear, concise, and aligns with RETHINK Retail and client brand voice and style guidelines.
Develop compelling content narratives, outlines, and finalized pieces including reports, articles, webinar discussion guides, and other mediums.
Leverage technology solutions including AI to maximize cost-effectiveness in content creation, allowing for efficient resource allocation.
Research and stay updated on industry trends and topics to create relevant and timely content.

Quality Control:

Implement quality control measures to guarantee the delivery of polished and error-free content.

Project Management:

Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of high quality. (i.e. large reports)
Create content calendars and production timelines outlining the publication schedule for reports, blog posts, articles, social media updates, and other content types.
Ensure that projects are delivered on time. Any delay in projects MUST be proactively communicated to the Account Manager.

Leadership and Team Management:

On occasion, assign and delegate content assignments based on project timelines, ensuring that deadlines and expectations are met.
May include oversight and management of freelance writers.

Client Correspondence:

Communicate with clients and other content contributors to provide content timelines, outlines, drafts, collect feedback, and conduct interviews.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in written content creation or a field with highly transferrable skills.

Desired Skills:

Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Comfort utilizing AI tools including ChatGPT and other generative software.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Experience with B2B and/or the retail industry.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency with content management systems (CMS) and editorial tools such as Monday.
Familiarity with SEO best practices and digital marketing trends.
