Job Summary

PRAISEnyc, Inc. is seeking an experienced freelance legal writer and case support specialist to assist with special education due process matters. This is a remote, independent contractor position on an as-needed basis. There are no guaranteed hours.

The ideal candidate has experience drafting legal documents, organizing complex case files, and working independently with minimal supervision. Most assignments require a 24-48 hour turnaround.

Responsibilities

Draft parent affidavits from interviews, educational records, and provider reports.
Expand due process complaint templates using case-specific facts.
Organize, merge, bookmark, OCR, and prepare PDF exhibits.
Proofread legal documents for grammar, accuracy, and consistency.
Maintain organized electronic case files.
Assist with administrative and document management tasks.
Communicate promptly regarding assignment acceptance and completion.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year experience drafting legal documents.
Excellent legal writing, grammar, and proofreading skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Comfortable working remotely and meeting 24-48 hour deadlines.
Proficiency with Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and PDF document management.

Special education law.
