Job Title: Sr. Social Media Manager

Team: Marketing

Location: Onsite - Sawtelle (Between Santa Monica & West LA)

Employment Type: Full-time, Salary, Exempt

Reports To: Sr. Director, Marketing Operations

About Plug

Plug is the marketplace for used electric vehicles. Consumers get an instant cash offer backed by battery-health data, and dealers across the US bid in real time on that inventory. Former Tesla executives founded Plug in 2023. We’ve facilitated over $150M in EV sales and raised a $20M Series A led by Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Why Plug

You’ll own a piece of the biggest infrastructure opportunity in automotive.
You’ll work on a platform built exclusively for EVs, with nothing adapted from legacy automotive.
You’ll be part of an AI-native company. We’re rethinking how work gets done at a fundamental level.
You’ll work directly with operators who have scaled multi-billion dollar businesses in automotive, EV, and marketplaces.
You’ll have real ownership, high autonomy, and a direct line to company outcomes.

The Opportunity

Plug is hiring a Sr. Social Media Manager to own our social presence end to end, across both Plug’s brand channels and the personal founder voice of our CEO, Jimmy Douglas. These are two distinct voices with two distinct purposes, and part of this role is understanding how they differ and how they work together so each strengthens the other.

This is a senior, hands-on role. You’ll shoot, direct, edit, write, and post from day one, with real room to build and lead a team as the function grows.

What You’ll Do

Own the full content calendar and strategy across the Plug brand.
Identify and develop recurring themes and narrative territories for our content, building on our existing brand framework and finding new ground within it.
Create short-form video (Reels, TikTok), static posts, stories, and longer-form YouTube content such as day-in-the-life pieces.
Write copy across all formats and platforms.
Shoot and direct Jimmy regularly, in person, including on short notice for spontaneous content moments, in addition to planned brand content at Plug HQ.
Edit content yourself end to end, with the option to hand rough cuts to an editor when that’s the better use of time.
Manage Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and LinkedIn for the Plug brand.
Proactively engage elsewhere online, in EV and auto industry conversations and relevant culture and trend moments, to raise Plug’s visibility beyond our own channels.

What You’ll Bring

Senior-level social media experience, able to run point solo from concept through shoot, edit, and post, without needing a team around you to get started.
Strong creative instincts and a natural, engaging writing voice.
Comfort directing a confident, camera-savvy founder.
Skill in shooting and editing content on both mobile and camera.
Experience managing online community engagement and interpreting social performance data.
A plus, though not required: experience working directly with a founder, or at a marketplace company. Automotive experience is not required.

Not sure you should apply? Do it.

Research consistently shows that people from under-represented groups are more likely to talk themselves out of applying if they don’t meet 100% of the listed requirements. You don’t need to check every box. If this role excites you and you bring most of what’s listed under “What You’ll Bring,” we want to hear from you.

Compensation And Benefits

Annual salary: $120,000 to $140,000

Salary ranges come from independent, third-party benchmarking against national compensation data. Where an offer falls within the range depends on relevant experience, specialized skills, training and qualifications, current business needs, and market conditions. We review ranges periodically and may adjust them as the market changes.

Health, Vision, and Dental insurance
401(k) plan
Equity
Unlimited PTO
Daily lunch and dinner stipend, plus a fully stocked kitchen
Dog-friendly office and on-site EV charging
30-day remote work from anywhere policy

This full-time position is in-person, based in Sawtelle (between Santa Monica and West Los Angeles). We will not provide relocation assistance to successful candidates. We do not offer sponsorship at this time.
