About the role

Do you love social media, creating content, and doing life with dogs? This could be your dream job.

Genius Dog and PawCo are looking for a Freelance Social Media Manager, with the opportunity to transition into a full-time role, who is part creator, part community builder, and part cultural obsessive. Someone who knows what’s happening on TikTok before everyone else does, loves making content that people actually want to watch, and understands that today’s dog parents don’t just want to buy things for their dogs — they want to experience more of life with them.

In this role, you’ll lead social across two distinct, fast-growing dog brands: Genius Dog, a lifestyle and experiences brand for modern dog parents, and PawCo, a fresh, innovative dog nutrition brand. You’ll help each brand build its own unique voice and community while finding opportunities to tap into the broader culture of modern dog life.

You’ll be responsible for bringing both brands to life across social from developing thumb-stopping content and jumping on cultural moments to building engaged communities and collaborating with creators, brands, and partners. You’ll be equally comfortable behind the camera, in the comments, and turning a big idea into a perfectly executed post.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape two brands redefining what it means to live well with dogs and to play a hands-on role in building their social presence from the ground up.

You’ll work closely with our Creative, Marketing, and Influencer teams to create content people want to follow, share, talk about, and experience with their dogs.

Social Strategy & Content

Develop and execute social strategies for Genius Dog and PawCo, bringing each brand to life with a distinct voice, visual identity, and point of view while building a cohesive presence within the broader culture of modern dog life.
Own the social content calendar across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn, aligning content with product launches, partnerships, cultural moments, and key business priorities.
Be a hands-on content creator- concepting, shooting, editing, and publishing engaging Reels, TikToks, Stories, carousels, UGC, and trend-driven content that feels native to each platform.
Stay deeply immersed in internet, social, and cultural trends and know how to translate them into ideas that feel fresh, relevant, and unmistakably Genius Dog or PawCo.
Help turn dogs, dog parents, products, experiences, and everyday moments into content people actually want to watch, share, save, and send to a friend.
Partner closely with Creative and Marketing to turn campaign and business priorities into social-first storytelling.
Bring a strong editorial eye to the feed, knowing when content should be polished and brand-building versus spontaneous, funny, timely, or creator-led.

Community & Creator Engagement

Build and nurture vibrant communities around both Genius Dog and PawCo, creating genuine relationships with dog parents, customers, creators, partners, and the broader dog-loving community.
Be an active voice of the brands across comments, DMs, tags, mentions, and conversations responding quickly, thoughtfully, and in each brand's distinct tone.
Identify opportunities for UGC, creator content, community storytelling, and cultural moments that can organically grow awareness and engagement.
Partner with our influencer team to build authentic relationships with creators, influencers, dog personalities, community partners, and other brands that can help bring our brands to life.
Support social activations, events, community moments, and experiences and be comfortable getting out from behind the screen to help create content IRL.
Look for ways to make our communities feel like they are part of the brand, not just an audience of followers.

Analytics & Optimization

Monitor social performance across both brands and provide regular reporting, insights, and recommendations.
Track engagement, reach, follower growth, video views, saves, shares, profile visits, traffic, and conversion, using data to understand what is resonating and why.
Continuously test and optimize content formats, creative approaches, posting cadence, hooks, captions, and platform strategies.
Stay current on platform updates, emerging formats, creator trends, and best practices — and proactively bring new ideas to the team.

What We're Looking For

3+ years of social media experience, in DTC, beauty, fashion, pet, wellness, or other consumer brands.
A native understanding of Instagram and TikTok and an instinct for what makes people stop scrolling, engage, share, and follow.
A natural content creator who can confidently concept, shoot, edit, and publish social content and isn't afraid to get on camera, interview people, work with dogs, or try something that might not have been done before.
Strong creative instincts and storytelling skills. You know the difference between content that simply looks good and content that people actually want to consume.
Culturally curious and internet fluent. You are constantly discovering new creators, formats, memes, trends, sounds, brands, and ideas and can quickly spot what could be relevant for us.
Strong copywriting skills and an ability to develop captions, hooks, scripts, and social storytelling that feel human, witty, and on-brand.
Comfortable with basic creative tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, Premiere Pro, or similar. Strong design and video editing skills are a plus.
Extremely outgoing, energetic, and relationship-oriented. You genuinely enjoy meeting people, talking to customers, collaborating with creators, and being a visible face of the brand both online and IRL.
Highly organized and able to independently manage content calendars, campaign timelines, approvals, events, and reporting without letting the details fall through the cracks.
Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment where priorities evolve quickly and you're expected to bring ideas, not just execute briefs.
A genuine dog person who understands why people are obsessed with their dogs and can bring that passion, humor, and empathy into everything we create.
Most importantly, you have great taste, strong instincts, and a point of view. You don't just follow what's trending, you know how to make a brand part of the conversation.
