About the Role

Custodio & Dubey LLP (CD LAW), the official law firm of the LA Kings, is seeking a high-output Freelance Copywriter & Media Outreach Specialist to support our growing marketing and PR efforts.

This role is ideal for a writer who thrives on media pitching, storytelling, PR outreach, SEO-driven content, and bilingual communication. You will help position our attorneys as thought leaders while creating consistent, high-quality content across press, email, website, and social platforms.

This is a results-driven freelance role. We are looking for someone who can pitch, publish, and amplify.

Key Responsibilities

Media Outreach and PR

Write and pitch 3–5 media pitches per week
Pitch across print, on-air television, radio, podcasts, and digital publications
Tailor pitches for local, regional, and national outlets
Communicate directly with Spanish-language media (TV, radio, print, and digital)
Draft press releases for verdicts, settlements, attorney commentary, firm announcements, and community initiatives
Track media outreach, responses, placements, and follow-ups
Use PR platforms such as Muck Rack, Cision, HARO, PR Newswire, or similar tools

Website, Blog, and SEO Content

Write and update blog posts, practice area pages, and SEO strategy or pillar pages
Optimize content for search intent, keywords, internal linking, and conversions
Assist with content planning aligned with ongoing PR and media wins
Collaborate with the marketing team to maintain a consistent brand voice

Email Marketing and Newsletter

Write one weekly email newsletter featuring firm updates, media features, and legal insights
Create strong subject lines, hooks, and calls-to-action
Support email campaigns tied to media placements, verdict announcements, and educational content

Social Media Copy and Light Content Activation

Write captions, hooks, short-form scripts, and commentary tied to media wins
Repurpose media appearances, podcasts, interviews, and blog content into social copy
Coordinate with the Social Media Manager for content alignment

Research and Preparation

Research timely topics related to personal injury, housing and habitability, wokers' compensation, and consumer safety
Prepare background notes and talking points for media interviews, podcast appearances, and attorney commentary

Required Skills and Experience

2+ years of professional writing experience (freelance, agency, or in-house)
Proven experience with media pitching, PR writing, and long-form content
Strong writing portfolio including blogs, press releases, pitches, and newsletters
Ability to simplify complex legal topics for a general audience
Excellent grammar, clarity, and attention to detail
Ability to meet weekly output goals consistently

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

Fluent or conversational Spanish (written and verbal)
Experience pitching to Spanish-language media
Familiarity with SEO best practices
Experience using WordPress
Experience with Google Search Console and Google Analytics
Experience with email platforms such as Mailchimp
Comfort using AI tools such as ChatGPT and transcription software
