Overview
The UMMA Center is seeking a skilled freelance grant writer with at least two years of federal grant writing experience, ideally in the social services sector. The ideal candidate will also have experience with Illinois state grants. This is a part-time, contract position that offers flexibility and the opportunity to support an impactful organization committed to advancing community well-being.
Responsibilities
- Research and identify federal and Illinois state grant opportunities aligned with UMMA’s programs and initiatives.
- Write, edit, and prepare compelling grant proposals, including Letters of Intent (LOIs) and narratives, ensuring adherence to application guidelines and deadlines.
- Collaborate with UMMA leadership to understand funding priorities, program goals, and reporting requirements.
- Manage multiple grant applications simultaneously, meeting deadlines and producing high-quality submissions.
- Provide consultation and recommendations on funding strategies to maximize successful outcomes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in federal grant writing, with a proven track record of success.
- Experience writing Illinois state grant proposals is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with grant opportunities and priorities in the social services sector.
- Strong research, writing, and editing skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and meet deadlines.
