Teknologix is seeking a freelance Bookkeeper/Office Manager to work full-time for the next few months on short-term bookkeeping/accounting projects, then 10-20 hours per week ongoing on a variety of accounting and payroll tasks, including establishing best practice bookkeeping and office processes. This is a remote role, with flexibility to work on-site as needed.
A key part of this role is in working with our owner and tax accountant on annual tax filings. We have numerous tax returns due for back years for multiple companies that need to be completed. Additionally, we have 1.5 years of transactions that need to be reentered into QuickBooks, due to data loss. Will pay bonus when these projects are complete!
The Bookkeeper position requires a strong inclination to work with a small business on full-charge bookkeeping needs. We are looking for someone who will collaborate with our owner, while also seeing things through to completion. This person should naturally look for where they can be the most helpful with a keen understanding of deadlines and business priorities.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic self-starter that possesses excellent organizational skills, exceptional verbal and written communication skills and outstanding customer service skills. Candidate should be highly dependable, flexible and adaptable to different situations. Need someone who can make decisions and take charge. Need a good number 2 for the company. Looking for someone local to Raleigh/Durham area, but position is remote/will work from home with occasional in-house work.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Review, allocate and post transactions in Quickbooks
- Assist in preparing, filing, and paying local, state and federal tax returns including managing 940/941 filings
- Work with our owner in a variety of accounting and finance-related responsibilities
- Assist owner in preparation of financial statements and reports
- AP/AR
- Billing/Collections
- Reconcile all cash and credit accounts monthly
- Deposit checks to bank and initiate wire transfers
- Payroll processing
- Manage daily cash flow and ensure funds are available in appropriate accounts
- Monitor and make payments to company credit cards
- General office management duties
- Collect mail and small packages regularly from Post Office Box in North Raleigh
- Filing corporate paperwork
- Managing all HR duties
- Booking travel online
- Interact with staff, clients, and business partners in a positive and helpful way
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding organization's financial and personnel information
Accounting Assistant Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience with general accounting/bookkeeping for small business
- Tax filing experience
- 2+ years experience with QuickBooks
- Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must Maintain strict confidentiality
- Administrative experience (preferred)
- Experience in IT, technology, consulting, or skills certification training (preferred)
