Part-Time Graphic Designer

3-month contract; potential for extension
$24.64 - $30.44 per hour
Up to 15 hours per week; EST or PST hours
The Graphics Designer will be responsible for creating overall designs, illustrations, and graphics for the organization. They will prepare visual presentations by designing art and copy layouts. This person will work closely with the director of marketing, senior manager of communications, and business-unit marketing managers to develop high-quality designs for the external website, marketing materials, digital and print advertising, event advertising materials, social media graphics, and emerging online channels.
What you’ll be doing:
- Coordinates all administrative aspects of production, including preparing final designs for presentation, checking and approving color, copy, text format separations, and scaling images for print production.
- Experience specifically with creating social media formats including multiple sizes, video animations, carousels, etc.
- Knowledge of color science and brand color suite development
- Prepares layouts, designs, artwork and formats for use in publication and /or exhibition design.
- Prepares layouts for responsive HTML marketing emails and web-based landing pages with form-fill elements
- Color correct, process, layout and scale photos, marking them for proper screen values for print reproduction
- Designs, lays out, and produces artwork such as infographics, graphs, maps, charts, posters, signs and report covers
- Create visual aspects of marketing materials, websites and other media, including infographics, sidebars, pull quotes, text-as-graphic-element items and so forth
- Illustrates concepts by designing rough layouts of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.
- May handle copyright, reprint, and permission processes; responsible for including legal disclaimer in materials as needed/required.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications; and participating in professional societies.
Who we’re looking for:
- 3+ years in professional commercial design, preferably with a marketing or creative agency
- Bachelor’s degree required; Fine Arts degree preferred
- Extensive experience with vector-based high-resolution design, brand identity, and motion animation
- Extensive experience with Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
Working knowledge of CSS3, HTML5 and JavaScript
