Job Description
Please note: Candidates must be prepared to work onsite in the New York office 3 days/week.
The GVP Business Strategy provides deep insight into factors affecting our clients’ digital business and customer experiences. You will be the dedicated strategist to support marketing transformation development activities for a large, global pharmaceutical client. You are a visionary leader who "connects the dots" around business and consumer insights and articulates digital concepts and solutions in a clear and compelling way to clients.
This highly collaborative role interfaces heavily with internal, cross functional team members as well as VP to C-level client contacts throughout the strategy development and execution process.
You will lead cross-functional engagement teams across a range of complex project types with multiple components. As the strategy leader on the account, you will also manage the more junior strategists. Across the various marketing transformation streams of work, you will be responsible for research and insights, valuation and business case development, establishing a digital vision, product market fit, organizational design, process optimization, prioritization roadmap development, rationalizing communication channel decisions, future state visualizations, and other items depending on client need.
Responsibilities:
[BUSINESS STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT]

Perform (or lead a team that performs) market research and analysis.

Through customer insights and journey/user development, “fall in love” with the problems facing the client’s consumers—lead solutions that solve those problems.

Lead large teams to deliver value-accretive business strategy and marketing transformation programs

Develop a comprehensive roadmap for defining and executing the marketing transformation strategy, aligning with business objectives and market opportunities.

Stay aware of marketing trends and developments in commerce to create thought leadership material

Define a digital program's strategic vision and business goals to guide strategy development and execution.

Develop prioritized, strategic roadmaps using desirable, viable, feasible framework for innovation and implementation

Assess product market fit, risks, and offer risk mitigation insights

Consistently evaluate emerging technologies to increase efficiencies and/or customer engagement. An understanding of AI and where it may offer enhancements to the business.

Summarize findings and package in a way that supports a clear and compelling story

Lead digital strategy engagements with a strong focus on business analysis, strategic and financial modeling, differentiated digital experiences, key digital capabilities and/or road mapping

Engage with clients to identify key strategic challenge(s) as well as digital business and marketing needs to be addressed; evaluate scope of strategic engagement

Work cross-functionally with other strategy colleagues, client partners, discipline leads, and other internal partners

Present strategy output and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders

Lead strategic review of solution development; provide clear and timely feedback to ensure experiences, technology and marketing solutions are delivered on-strategy

Lead or participate in project post-mortems; capture key learnings and develop case studies as appropriate

Considering the problems facing the organization and/or it’s consumers, provide assessment and vision of the ideal ‘consumer experience’ by defining key capabilities that differentiate clients and meet consumer needs. Align to tech capabilities and business viability.

Define cross-channel implications and opportunities
[CLIENT ENGAGEMENT & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT]

Advise clients (VP- to C-level) on strategic considerations and best practices for building effective digital organizations

Support business development efforts with research, structure, smart thinking, and big ideas

Work with Client Partners to generate demand and sell-thru for strategic services

Build and manage strong working relationships with decision-makers of the client organization and become a trusted advisor

Proactively seek opportunities to deepen client relationships and "elevate the conversation" within client organizations

Create RFP responses and proposals, and take a leadership role in pitching new business

Develop thought leadership pieces for publication and/or business development
-
Remain informed and current on relevant news, best practices, and trends within the digital marketing environment
[PEOPLE & TEAM MANAGEMENT]

Build strategy team expertise by mentoring junior team members and offering training in relevant methodologies, techniques, frameworks, etc.

Proactively work to improve process for strategy engagements and team workflow

Partner with senior account leadership to support client decision-making
Qualifications
-
15+ years of strategy experience for consumer-driven businesses within consulting or agency environments, as a guide
-
Cross-trained product strategist who can work successfully across Brand, Commerce, CRM, and Media engagements

Expertise in digital product innovation and implementation, digital strategy, digital technology capabilities and partner knowledge
-
Proven experience leading product strategy and digital roadmap projects in a complex business and marketing environment
-
Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, vision, and leadership to help facilitate change within a team and client’s organization
-
Strong understanding of user research, user-centered design principles and online consumer behavior
-
Excellent communication and presentation skills; dynamic (persuasive) in presenting ideas to clients and prospective clients from VP to C-level
-
Ability to quickly join the client leadership team and immediately add value

Must possess a rigorous analytical approach as well as abstract problem-solving skills (get to the answer via both "inspiration" and "perspiration")

Strong interpersonal skills as team leader and team player with experience managing and training other consultants

Must have a "change agent" attitude; constantly pushing us and our clients to new innovations, opportunities, approaches, ideas, and perspectives—all with an outcome-based mindset

Compensation Range: $73.56 - $115.63/hr. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. This role may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met.
