WordJack Media (www.wordjack.com) is a web marketing firm, and we are looking for a Junior Editor and Writing Coordinator to join our staff.
This position will start as a part-time (20 hours/week) three-month contract, with an option to become permanent and/or full-time after the initial contract, based on performance.
You will be paid a fixed monthly amount, starting at approximately $1,700 USD per month. Payments will be sent twice a month, on the 10th and 25th. Paid public holidays. Paid sick leave & vacation days apply after the three-month trial period.
Applicants must currently live in the U.S. or Canada. We have staff in both counties, so pay rate, payroll arrangements, and currency will be adapted to your location.

Job duties:
- Editing and proofreading of blogs, website text, and other content for small businesses in the U.S. and Canada (plumbers, dentists, HVAC companies, home remodelers, etc.) to ensure established SEO standards are met and fix any grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors
- Making client-supplied edits to text, ensuring the content’s SEO value and grammatical integrity remains intact
- Proofreading client-supplied text to post on a website (sometimes being able to turn something that’s very poorly written into a well-written blog or other piece of writing)
- Collaborating with several staff/freelance writers and two senior editors
- Providing feedback about errors to writers and others
- Assisting with training as necessary
- Assisting with coordination of assignments for staff and freelance writers
- Editing live text on websites to correct errors or meet client requests
- Some writing tasks, such as company descriptions, landing page text, etc.
Required experience:
- College degree in communications, journalism, English, or similar
- 1+ years of experience in writing/editing (SEO writing/editing experience a plus)
- Experience with WordPress a plus
Qualifications / Expectations:
- Must currently live in the U.S. or Canada
- Must be fluent in English and have excellent writing and editing skills
- Must be able to work during regular business hours (somewhere between 9 AM and 6 PM on Monday-Friday)
- Must be a fast learner and good researcher
- Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to recognize errors in your own and other people’s work
- Must be able to write clearly and concisely with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Must be able to critique and edit other writers' work to adhere to established standards
The selection process will involve:
1. Selected candidates will be asked to take a short grammar quiz (should only take about 10 minutes of your time).
2. Selected candidates who perform well on the grammar quiz will be asked to complete a two-part (writing and editing) test. It should take approximately two hours, and candidates must complete it on their own schedule within one week. We will send those who complete the test $50 via PayPal.
3. Final candidates will be asked to complete a short interview before we make our selection.
