The Ideal ATLAS Translator/Interpreter
We're looking for a self-driven, detail-oriented professional who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments. You'll need to be a strong communicator, adept at quickly synthesizing complex information and conveying it clearly and concisely. Most importantly, you'll bring an unwavering commitment to accuracy and a relentless pursuit of the right solution.
Key qualifications include:
- Language certifications in the foreign language(s) and English
- Capable of accurately translating, transcribing, and interpreting highly complex technical conversations and documents, including discussions of contracts and other legal issues
- A list of acceptable language certifications includes:
- Transcribers and translators who have taken examinations certified by the U.S. Government, such as the Defense Language Institute (Department of Defense); Foreign Service Institute (Department of State); Department of Justice; Federal Bureau of Investigation; and who can provide written and oral proficiency tests in the languages
- Interpreters who received certification as a certified interpreter by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (through the Federal Court Interpreters Certification Program)
- Interpreters who received credentials for professionally qualified interpreters by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, including passing the U.S. Department of State conference or seminar interpreter test or the United Nations interpreter test in a language pair that includes English and the target language, or being a current member in good standing of the Association Internationale des Interprètes de Conférence or The American Association of Language Specialists
- Experience transcribing, translating, and interpreting in a law enforcement or judicial setting
- Familiarity with legal and criminal justice terminology
- Ability to analyze large volumes of information and provide clear, concise findings
- Willingness to travel as needed to support USAID OIG investigations
