About the Opportunity:
We’re partnering with a well-known fashion brand to identify a Technical Designer for a freelance assignment based in New York City. This individual contributor will own the technical design process from development through final fit, helping ensure products meet established standards for fit, comfort, quality, and cost.
This is a strong opportunity for a Technical Designer with hands-on experience in
swimwear, intimates, seamless, or performance categories who enjoys working
closely with product from concept through production.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own the technical design process from development through production
- Lead fittings and evaluate garment fit, construction, and comfort
- Create and maintain technical specifications and fit standards
- Write fit comments and communicate corrections to vendors and factories
- Partner closely with Design to help maintain design intent throughout development
- Review prototypes and recommend adjustments to support fit, quality, and cost goals
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Product Development, and external partners
- Attend meetings, share technical recommendations, and provide follow-up support
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of Technical Design experience
- Experience in swimwear, intimates, seamless, or performance categories strongly preferred
- Ability to independently lead fittings and make fit recommendations
- Experience writing fit comments and communicating pattern corrections
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and manufacturing
- Plus-size experience preferred
- Experience with Centric PLM, Flex PLM, Adobe Illustrator, and Excel preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field preferred
