Laura Flanders & Friends is seeking a freelance video editor to work on an award-winning 30-minute public affairs series, nationally syndicated on PBS stations, online and on radio.
Candidates need a strong track record in editing on deadline and working with teams. Our episodes have a quick turnaround of 1 week or less (news-like pace). All have a documentary sensibility with thoughtful application of B-roll. Show format styles can vary from Zoom multicam, in-studio multicam, and field pieces. Our production schedule is based on Eastern Standard Time. Remote work but needs to work with the team on Eastern Standard Time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to deliver high-quality pieces in a short turnaround.
- Advanced Adobe Premiere Pro editing skills. We edit with Premiere Pro Teams.
- Fast internet required for file transfers and uploads.
- Should have experience shaping content and flow to help tell a better story.
- 3-5 plus years experience editing in a professional setting.
- Experience collaborating with a small team on a tight timeline, using shared task management tools in a transparent way etc.
- Proven record absorbing editorial priorities and ability to boil content to time fast.
- Experience in dealing with various video file formats and delivery.
- Motion graphics/design skills not required but a plus.
- Non-Technical Skills: Strong organization and communications skills. Strong editorial judgment and ability to work closely with others.
- Interest and engagement with social justice movements and issues a plus
