We are seeking a casual
Social Media & Graphic Design Specialist to join our team at the Recruitment Innovation Unit (RIU) within the Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. This is an opportunity to craft compelling content and to use your social media and design skills to make an impact. The RIU supports research teams with innovative recruitment strategies, blending technology-driven approaches with community engagement. Our mission is to raise awareness of clinical trial opportunities at Johns Hopkins and engage directly with community members, answering questions and sharing research opportunities.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Content Creation
- Create, schedule, and manage engaging social media posts to promote public health messages and highlight ongoing research.
- Interact with followers, respond to comments/messages, and build community relationships.
- Optimize social media content for searchability and reach.
Design
- Create eye-catching graphics, infographics, and videos using tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
Digital Asset Management
- Organize and maintain a collection of photos, videos, and illustrations for easy access and use.
Research Recruitment
- Work closely with the RIU team to roll out multimedia research recruitment promotion assets.
- Oversee the work of part-time graduate students working on MyChart recruitment.
Web Content
- Assist in updating and enhancing digital content to keep the JH research community and the broader public informed and engaged.
- Produce sample sites and receive and act on feedback about draft sites.
- Create template website designs for Johns Hopkins study teams.
- Create designs and webpages that are user-friendly, effective and appealing.
- Perform digital retouching and image editing.
Additional Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Ability to juggle multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Two years' experience and a portfolio.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent.
- Some background in health communications and social media.
- Familiary with design software and willingness to learn new tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in WordPress and Canva.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and digital marketing strategies.
- Knowledge and skills in UX/UI design.
