Immediate Hiring: Flexible schedule • Half/Full-day pay • Full-time track after 90 days
The Role:
You’ll report, interview, script, and produce short videos (60–90s) and 3–7 minute explainers. You’ll work the beat, book guests, secure releases, capture clean audio/video, write tight scripts, and collaborate with editors to publish on time.
What you'll do:
- Report & book: source stories, pre-interview guests, write questions, secure location & releases.
- Interview on camera: conduct empathetic, focused interviews; capture strong b-roll and nat sound.
- Script & structure: turn reporting into concise scripts (cold open → receipts → impact → what’s next).
- Shoot & file: operate mirrorless/phone kit (24/30 fps), lav/shotgun audio, basic lighting; file footage, notes, and source list same day.
- Produce with editors: hand off selects, markers, and VO; review cuts; ensure captions, lower-thirds, and links/sources are accurate.
- Standards & safety: follow corrections policy, consent protocols, and dignity-first visuals.
You Have:
- 2–5 years in video reporting/producing (student newsroom + freelance counts).
- On-camera confidence and interview craft (you can keep guests on track with respect).
- Strong writing; you can script tight explainers and headlines/thumbnails.
- Shooter’s basics: framing, exposure, clean audio, simple lighting.
- Familiarity with Premiere/CapCut/DaVinci/Descript (you don’t have to be an editor, but you think like one).
- Working knowledge of media law (defamation/privacy), trauma-informed reporting, and cultural competence around DFW communities.
Compensation:
- Freelance: day rate (shoot/report) per-piece -very competitive
- mileage reimbursement.
- Get paid very fast.
