The Senior Director of Marketing is a key member of the marketing leadership team, reporting directly to the Vice President of Admissions & Marketing. This strategic role is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies that elevate the university’s brand, drive enrollment growth for all student populations, and strengthen engagement with key constituencies. Working collaboratively with the Senior Director of Digital Strategy and Senior Director of Creative Services & Brand Strategy, the Senior Director of Marketing leads integrated marketing initiatives that support institutional priorities and advance the university’s mission.

Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing Leadership
- Collaborate with the VP of Admissions & Marketing to shape overall marketing vision and priorities
- Develop and implement strategic marketing plans aligned with institutional goals, enrollment targets for all student populations, and brand positioning
- Lead market research and conduct data analysis to identify opportunities, understand competitive landscape, and inform data-driven decision making
- Partner with Senior Directors of Digital Strategy and Creative Services & Brand Strategy to ensure cohesive, integrated campaigns across all channels
- Partner with marketing leadership team to champion the adoption and integration of AI tools across the marketing team to enhance productivity, creativity, and data-driven decision-making while establishing guidelines for responsible and brand-appropriate usage
Marketing Operations & Campaign Management
- Utilize AI-powered analytics platforms to uncover deeper customer insights, identify market trends, forecast campaign performance, and translate complex data into actionable marketing strategies
- Oversee the development and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns supporting undergraduate and graduate enrollment, retention, fundraising, and institutional initiatives
- Manage relationships with external advertising agency partners, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and quality deliverables
- Manage marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and strong ROI on marketing investments
- Lead segmentation and targeting strategies to reach prospective students and other key audiences
- Establish and monitor KPIs to measure marketing effectiveness and drive continuous improvement
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence
- Provide strategic direction and day-to-day management to marketing staff, including marketing managers, coordinators, and copywriters
- Promote professional development and create opportunities for team growth
- Ensure team members have the resources, tools, and support needed to succeed
- Leverage and manage freelance support as needed
Content Strategy & Storytelling
- Oversee the development of compelling content that communicates the university’s unique value proposition and tells authentic student, faculty, and alumni stories
- Ensure messaging consistency and brand integrity across all marketing communications
- Guide the creation of marketing materials including brochures, videos, email campaigns, and digital content
- Champion the university’s brand narrative in all marketing efforts
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a strategic partner to Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Admissions, Academic Affairs, Advancement, and other university stakeholders
- Lead collaborative planning processes to align marketing efforts with institutional priorities across departments
- Build strong relationships with internal clients to understand their needs and deliver effective marketing solutions
- Represent the marketing function in university-wide committees and strategic planning initiatives
- Other related duties as assigned
