Brand Marketing Communications Specialist (Freelance)
Employment Type: Freelance
Reports to: Brand & Corporate Marketing Leadership
Timing: ASAP – December 31st, 2025- potential to extend

As a Brand Marketing Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in managing and executing content and integrated campaign activities across owned and paid channels. Your work will help introduce and enable memorable experiences for consumer audiences engaging with the Optum brand. This is a freelance opportunity for a proactive marketing professional with experience in project management, integrated marketing communications, and multi-channel content execution.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management
Organize and manage B2C Team program projects, including setting up campaigns, initiatives, social, web, and collateral projects in Workfront.
Schedule and facilitate project kick-off calls with stakeholders; compose detailed recaps following meetings.
Manage project timelines and tasks in collaboration with Content and Integrated Marketing Directors/Managers.
Maintain organized project documentation and content/planning folders.
Support content/project leads by managing proofreading, Legal/Compliance, and Medical reviews.
Update and maintain program calendars using Excel and PowerPoint for all active projects.

Integrated Marketing & Content Execution

Support execution of integrated marketing plans across Optum.com, social media, and paid digital channels.

Coordinate content reviews and maintain a comprehensive content library (blogs, podcasts, videos).

Lead ad hoc content and activation projects such as social media posts and market moment content support.

Internal Communications Coordination

Coordinate internal communication activities for all team projects (Sparq articles, team email updates, Brand Center updates).
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience developing integrated marketing/communications plans that leverage stories across multiple channels (email, search, social).
- Demonstrated multi-channel digital marketing expertise.
- Strong project management skills; ability to build and manage detailed project plans (Workfront experience ideal but not required).
- Background in integrated marketing communications or experience as an Activation Manager for a brand or marketing/comms team.
- Adept at collaborating with creative, digital, and agency partners to deliver high-quality work on time.
