Creative/Analytical Skills: Creative and analytical skills with the ability to conduct research and develop engaging, captivating content that appeals to the target audience and keeps the business/product ahead of its competition in terms of content and information, all while keeping an eye on sales numbers and client expectations.
Communication Skills: The Content Director must display exceptional communication skills both in written and in verbal form. Communication must be clear, concise and unambiguous. Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to make effective presentations at industry tradeshows, webinars, podcasts and video interviews.
Interpersonal/People Skills: The Content Director needs to be self-motivated and inspiring to others, able to work efficiently in a group setting as well as independently with minimal supervision, have a constant thirst for the acquisition of knowledge and be adaptable to change. The Content Director must possess outstanding people skills, which make the employee and able to establish long-lasting relationships and connections. This quality will spill over to the content they produce, enabling them to establish connections with the industry through that content on behalf of the business/product.
MS Office/Software: Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Proficient or teachable in certain software, such as InCopy, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, photo/image management, SalesForce and Swapcard.
Preferred Experience & Mindset
Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications or any other related field. An equivalent of this educational requirement in working experience is also acceptable.
Experience: Ten years of working experience in a content editing/writing position with an ability to edit technical material. Demonstrate experience and interest in content research and analytics.
Mindset: The Content Director has a thirst for knowledge and a desire to inspire junior editorial personnel, constantly improving the business’s content and enhancing the audience’s engagement. The Content Director thrives in taking ideas and raw information and processing it into something new, unique and captivating for the audience. The Content Director exhibits steady team leadership internally, from individual to team interactions.
