Who We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a skilled and resourceful Grant Writer (Freelance/Project-Based) to support our company’s growth and impact by identifying and securing funding opportunities. This role is ideal for someone with a strong track record of writing successful grant proposals and an understanding of the types of funding available for women-owned businesses, food and beverage ventures, sustainability initiatives, and small business development.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, an excellent communicator, and confident in conducting research, writing compelling narratives, and navigating funding platforms. This is a freelance role with a hybrid work model, and candidates located in the Dallas area are preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify grant opportunities that align with Knife & Faulk’s mission and strategic goals
- Write and submit high-quality proposals, letters of intent, and supporting documentation for public and private funders
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather financials, organizational history, program details, and impact metrics
- Track deadlines, application statuses, and reporting requirements in an organized and transparent manner
- Maintain a centralized repository of all submitted proposals, awarded grants, and future opportunities
- Provide recommendations on overall grant strategy and funding priorities
- Assist with drafting other written content related to development or business growth, as needed
What You Bring:
Required:
- Dallas-based or with the ability to meet in-person as needed
Proven experience writing successful grant proposals (minimum 2–3 years)
- Excellent written communication, research, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple submissions
- Familiarity with private foundations, government grant databases, and funding platforms
- Strong attention to detail and ability to synthesize complex ideas into persuasive narratives
Preferred:
- Experience with grants related to hospitality, food & beverage, sustainability, or women-owned business initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field
