Electrobones is a groundbreaking hybrid percussion instrument that merges traditional wooden drumming with modern electronic music. Designed in Brooklyn, Electrobones functions both as an acoustic pickup and a MIDI-compatible drum trigger, unlocking new creative possibilities for musicians. We're a passionate startup focused on the intersection of rhythm, technology, and design—and we're currently seeking a Instrument Production Assistant to help us complete a small production run of this innovative instrument.
About the Role:
This is a hands-on, part-time freelance role based at our Bushwick studio. You’ll be working directly with the lead designer to help finish and assemble Electrobones units. Tasks will focus on woodworking, sanding, detailing, finishing, and quality control. This is messy, delicate, and rewarding work—perfect for someone who loves building things with their hands and being part of a creative team in the music tech space.
Responsibilities:
- Sanding and finishing wooden parts with attention to detail
- Light woodworking and shaping tasks (no heavy machinery required)
- Applying surface treatments, adhesives, and protective coatings
- Cleaning and preparing components for assembly
- Assisting with packaging and organizing final products
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Must be based in NYC, able to work in-person at our Bushwick studio
- Strong interest in drumming, percussion, and music technology
- Comfort with hands-on work including sanding, gluing, and finishing
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain a clean aesthetic
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent in communication
- Positive attitude and team-player mindset
- Prior experience with woodworking or instrument making is a plus—but not required
