LOCAL PUBLICATION COORDINATOR

JOB DESCRIPTION:
A. Oversees the development of monthly editorial content for magazine
- Attends monthly webinar on the first Thursday of every month at 10 am CST, hosted by Communications Directors, to review recipes for each issue’s editorial theme in accordance with the planning schedule
- Works closely with Publisher to localize content recipes supplied by the home office and to ensure that editorial can be used as a strategic sales tool
- Incorporates local contacts in the Lifestyle recipes as specified by the Publisher
- Works with the Publisher to ensure all client-promised content entered during the Publisher’s planning period has been assigned within the corresponding three-month view
- Stays abreast of local happenings in the area to provide current and relevant contacts for the publisher if needed
- Sees to the completion of all stories by notating all editorial planning in ARC and by assigning and executing them singularly, or by assigning them to additional local contributors; this includes completing or assigning static content such as the Lifestyle Letter, Good Times, Around Town and Calendar
- After launch, it is the Local Editorial Coordinator’s responsibility to select and work with local contributors
- Ensures that all content is submitted print-ready to ARC by the content deadline, including the following:
- Selecting a cover
- Selecting and cropping the main web image for each story
- Makes revisions to stories or photography if requested by the home office
B. During the initial proofing round and final proofing round, the Local Editorial Coordinator is responsible for effectively communicating the local team’s edits to the home office by the specified deadlines
C. Communicates on a monthly basis with publication team, including, but not limited to, the local Publisher, Local Staff Photographer and other writers
- Disseminates recipes and ideas from the monthly webinar on the first Thursday of every month at 10 am CST, hosted by Communications Directors, where all Lifestyle recipes for the upcoming issue will be reviewed and discussed
- May require on-site work with Staff Photographer to organize or stylize a photo shoot and/or interview a subject in person
- Determines whether custom photography is needed by being the initial contact with the article subject and if relevant imagery can be provided
- Communicates regularly with the Publisher regarding any obstacles preventing the completion of assignments
- Alerts the Publisher of any major events, trends or developments in the local area that should be included in the publication and how they can work within the bound of the pre-designed Lifestyle recipes
D. May be requested to create web-only content in tandem with an article for use on social media or the local website per the Publisher's request
E. Prepare and provide freelance payment invoices to Publisher after each issue is sent to print
- Compile an invoice for all contributors (including photographers), listing all articles that ran in the associated months; corresponding amounts to be paid to each contributor; and the contact information/address for all listed contributors
- Send prepared invoice(s) to the Publisher in a timely manner to issue payment

Pay: From $720.00 per month
Expected hours: 6 – 10 per week
