We’re looking for a creative, reliable, and detail-obsessed Interior Designer to join us on a freelance basis to help bring our residential remodeling projects to life. If you live and breathe design, know how to balance aesthetics with function, and can craft spaces that feel like home—let’s talk.

🏡 About Us

H&L Studios is a San Diego-based design-build firm specializing in thoughtful remodels that blend beauty, purpose, and craftsmanship. From kitchen and bath renovations to full-home transformations, we manage every detail from concept to completion.

💼 What You’ll Do

Collaborate on residential remodels with our in-house design and construction team
Create mood boards, design presentations, and material palettes
Develop space plans, furniture layouts, and source finishes & furnishings
Present design concepts to clients (with our support!)
Assist with procurement and install coordination as needed
Work on an hourly freelance basis (project scopes vary)

🔍 We’re Looking For Someone Who…

Has 2+ years of residential interior design experience (freelance or studio)
Understands design software (SketchUp, AutoCAD, Canva, etc.) and can translate vision into visuals
Knows how to communicate ideas clearly and confidently
Is highly organized and self-managed
Has great taste (we said it!) and understands both modern and transitional styles
Bonus if you’ve worked with design-build firms or understand construction workflows

🛠 Logistics

This is a 1099 independent contractor position
Remote-friendly, with occasional client or team meetings in San Diego County
Flexible hours based on project flow
Pay: Hourly, based on experience
You’ll be looped in as projects arise
