We are constantly on a mission to add smart, innovative, and fun-loving team members, and are looking for a Freelance Technical Designer to come join our New York-based headquarters. Our HQ Office is located in Downtown Manhattan, and our teams are on-site 3 days per week.
This is a freelance role to cover a maternity leave through October 2025.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Technical Designer, the Temporary Technical Designer is responsible for supporting the design process for our Women’s intimates, sleepwear, and loungewear collections. This individual will also work closely with the design team to coordinate sampling timelines and new product launch calendars. We are looking for a highly detailed, self-starting individual, with solid technical skills as well as product experience in the apparel space.
Primary Responsibilities
Work with the Senior Technical Designer & Supply team to establish company fit, size ranges, grading, and construction standards
Execute design vision while achieving impeccable fit and construction standards
Co-lead fittings, taking detailed and accurate notes
Create and maintain detailed tech packs including detail sketches with construction/stitching, fit evaluation comments and specs, tolerances, grading
Measure and evaluate garments from proto sample through post-production
Revise and create patterns, review, and advise adjustments on plastic shot/bra cup molding
Maintain thorough vendor communication and tracking to meet deadlines and ensure on-time delivery
Manage time and workflow
Partner with Technical Design, as well as cross-functional teams and vendors
Qualifications, Skills, & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Pattern-making or Technical Design
5+ years Technical Design Experience in bras and intimate apparel
Must have technical understanding of body, fit, flat specs, fabric/trim stretch, and the ability to lead fittings, taking detailed and accurate notes
Knowledge of pattern-making, construction, pad development, industry fit knowledge, sizing, and grading
Thorough and detail-oriented with ability to manage and delegate tasks to meet deadline demands
Works well in a team environment
Ability to be on-site in our HQ Office in Lower Manhattan 3 days per week
