Summary

Gazelle Media Group is seeking a dynamic, senior-level freelance publicist to lead a high-impact PR campaign for a national cultural and climate justice initiative. This role will play a pivotal part in crafting and executing earned media strategies to elevate the voices of powerful women leaders and drive national visibility for a groundbreaking campaign. The ideal candidate is a seasoned storyteller with strong media relationships, a deep understanding of social justice movements, and an enthusiasm for creative, values-driven communications.

What Success Looks Like

You’ll be our lead media strategist on this campaign—generating high-quality earned media, developing compelling narratives, and creating strategic visibility opportunities. Success in this role means securing top-tier placements, building lasting journalist relationships, and helping shape a clear, resonant public voice for this initiative.

Responsibilities
  • Lead media strategy, planning, and execution for a national public awareness and advocacy campaign
  • Proactively pitch to national, cultural, climate, and social justice media outlets
  • Draft compelling press materials including pitches, press releases, and op-eds
  • Collaborate closely with our founder and the client’s team to align messaging and identify timely media opportunities
  • Source and secure speaking opportunities, podcast features, and media interviews for two women thought leaders
  • Help lead the development of a storytelling roadmap and press portfolio
  • Monitor media coverage and provide monthly performance updates and insights
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant PR or media experience, ideally with some agency experience
  • Demonstrated success securing top-tier and mid-tier media placements
  • Strong existing relationships with journalists covering arts, culture, climate, race, and gender
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and messaging development skills
  • A deep understanding of storytelling and media strategy for social justice movements
  • Experience working with BIPOC-led organizations or mission-driven campaigns is a strong plus
  • Ability to work part-time (20–25 hours/week) over a 4–5 month period


This is a remote, contract role with immediate start.
